PANIC! PANIC! PANIC! On President's Day, it's a fitting time to pay tribute to our capable, energetic, and always good-humored GHBOB President, Dot Davis Keil. Most of the amazing progress that GHBOB has made over the past three years has been due in whole or in part to Dot and her creativity and boundless enthusiasm. I've repeatedly invited her to stay on the GHBOB Board forever and ever, but sadly, she's fairly

GET CHECKED!
Many (but not all) GHBOB volunteer opportunities require you to have a current background check on file with the school district. Background checks are good for three to five years (depending on the type), and are needed for any volunteer opportunity where you will be spending time with students. This is especially important for parents who will help us with Band Camp in the summer. But OUR VOLUNTEER BLITZ IS WE'RE GLAD YOU ASKED! For the 2024-25 school year, the GHBOB has created a new leadership position, the GHBOB SPONSORSHIP CHAIR. Our outgoing president, Dot Davis Keil, has been the de facto sponsorship chair for the past few years, but we've come to realize that it might need a little more attention than someone in the president's chair is able to give. Our vision is that this person would spend time from May through August connecting with local businesses to lock in sponsors before the school year begins. This would give us ample time to recognize those sponsors in (GOLLY, I HOPE SO) Longtime GHBOB parent volunteer Janna Thompson-Chordas has, for many years, helped us design items like our logos, flyers and yard signs for the decal drive, senior banners, sponsor banners, and basically anything we wanted to look really really nice. Janna will "graduate" this year along with her youngest band kiddo, and along with missing her sunny dosposition we In 2022, the GHBOB officially "adopted" the GH orchestra programs, and became the sole booster organization for all instrumental music programs in Grandview Heights Schools. Since that time, we have supported two OSU field trip opportunities for grade 5/6 orchestra students in December of 2022 and 2023, the ProMusica partnership and concert attendance for 7th through 12th grade orchestra students in March of 2023, and the group adjudication event before the Kings Folks, our friend Molly Schmied has capably served as GHBOB secretary for the past three years, but next year we are forcing her to (OOPS, I MEAN ASKING HER NICELY TO) move on to higher office - so we'll need someone to take her place. This is a great "entry level" volunteer role for someone who is looking for a way to get a little more engaged. We just need you to show Hello friends of the GHBOB and welcome to the BLITZ! For the next 30 days we are looking to inspire as many new, continued, and increased GHBOB volunteers as possible. Stay tuned to this page and our web site for more information, and plan to meet up with all of us on THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 29, at 7PM at the GRANDVIEW THEATER to have a drink and hang out together as we talk about volunteering stories past present and future. ALL ARE WELCOME, even past volunteers! Come share your
Dear parents-- As the president of the Grandview Heights Band and Orchestra Boosters, I can say with certainty that there’s never been a better time to be an instrumental music student in Grandview! When I joined the GHBOB Board in 2021, we set goals to increase opportunities for performances, field trips, guest artists and development experiences. We also wanted to establish a culture of ONE instrumental music program by including orchestra students into our existing band booster activities. We’ve made great strides in all these areas, and we are not done yet. Our |
