GHBOB UPDATE

Good morning GHBOBers! Just a couple of updates from the GHBOB this week, please read on for more details.

1. MIDDLE SCHOOL PERFORMANCE WEAR: Information and an order form for middle school band and orchestra concert t-shirts are NOW AVAILABLE by clicking here. ALL MIDDLE SCHOOL FAMILIES are asked to submit the form, even if you already have a t-shirt. (This helps us ensure/confirm that every student has a shirt.) ALL 5th grade students and any 6-8th grade student who is new to band or orchestra MUST order a shirt, unless they have a shirt from last year shirt as a hand-me-down (we just started using the current shirts last year, so anything older than that would be the wrong style). Returning students MAY order a shirt to replace damaged, lost, or outgrown shirts at this time as well. The cost to families is $10 per shirt (financial assistance is available, please contact your student's director for details). All forms are due by September 11. And the GHBOB thanks Emily Gephart for volunteering to manage the middle school t-shirt ordering process for the second year in a row! 
2. VOLUNTEERING: Another HUGE thank you to everyone who helped with concessions volunteering this past week. We get a week off now, as the Bobcat football team and our Marching Band will be on the road this Friday at Northridge HS (although we do still need someone to drive the equipment truck, click here if you can help). But feel free to keep filling up those slots for future games by clicking here! Football season is our MOST volunteer-intensive time of the year, and we always welcome newcomers, especially parents of middle school and orchestra students, as the parents of our HS Marching Band members appreciate the opportunity to get out of the stand and watch the halftime show once or twice per season. Thank you for your help!

   SEVEN O'CLOCK JAZZ BAND: The GHBOB is thrilled to report that the Seven O'Clock Jazz Band will be returning for its third year this year, thanks to the dedication of our orchestra director and assistant marching band director Thomas Stanley. The "7OJB" is an exploratory group open to any instrumental music student in grades 6-12 who is interested in learning more about jazz.....and it gets its name from the fact that its members voluntarily meet before school at 7am! This is an especially good learning opportunity for anyone who is interested in one day auditioning for the HS Jazz Ensemble, and all instruments are welcome. Mr. Stanley held an informational meeting for students last Friday during the school day, but if your student missed it and is still interested in participating, please encourage them to email Mr. Stanley ASAP.
