GHBOB UPDATE

4/8/2024

Good morning GHBOB families, can you believe it's finally here - the week we have all been waiting for and talking about for SO, SO LONG?! No, I'm not talking about the silly
old once-in-a-lifetime solar eclipse - I'm talking about the long awaited 75th Annual BOBCake Bash!
  1. BUT FIRST, CONGRATS TO OUR MIDDLE SCHOOL MUSICIANS: A whopping total of TWENTY 7th and 8th grade instrumentalists traveled to Dublin Scioto High School this past weekend to participate in the OMEA District 15 solo and ensemble event, and came back with eleven "superior" and three "excellent" ratings to show for it! Click here to see a story and photos from the day. GHBOB is proud to support this event, and even MORE proud that the number of participants doubledthis year from the previous year. Great things are definitely happening in our instrumental music programs!
  2. AND THEN, HERE'S EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT BOBCAKE BASH WEEK, ALL IN ONE PLACE!
  • YARD SIGNS: Have you seen our amazing new yard signs around town?? Thanks to all of you who agreed to "host" a sign. Reminder that our volunteers will swing back around NEXT weekend to pick the signs up and store them for next year's event, so please just make sure they stay visible!
  • CAKE DONATION OR BUYOUT: Today is the last day you can buy yourself out of donating a cake on behalf of your band/orchestra student(s). Please click here for that opportunity. Otherwise, please plan to deliver ONE CAKE PER BAND/ORCHESTRA STUDENT in your family to the GHHS gym on Friday any time after 3pm. Look for the cake donation volunteers.
  • SIGN UP TO VOLUNTEER: speaking of volunteering, have you clicked here to sign up yet? If not please do because we do still need QUITE A LOT OF HELP!
  • CUPCAKE CONCERT: This Wednesday April 10 at 6pm our GH orchestra students will give a concert at the GH Public Library as part of the BOBCake Bash week of festivities and fundraising. Join us for beautiful music, free cupcakes, and raffle prizes!
  • CAKE DECORATING CONTEST: Make a plan to enter and WIN! Categories include Best Decorated, Best Music Theme, Best Bobcat Spirit, and Best REading/Library Theme. Drop your contest entries off at the GHHS gym any time after 3pm on Friday. Look for the cake decorating contest table and BE SURE to fill out an entry form before you leave your cake.
  • BAND MEMBERS PERFORMING: Reminder that ALL BAND STUDENTS in grades 7-12 will perform during the BOBCake Bash. Grades 7 and 8 play for the first half of the event (6:30-8pm) and then the GHHS Band takes over for the second half (8pm-9:30pm). Watch for more information from the directors on what to wear, where to be, and when to be there.
  • CHECK OUT THE SILENT AUCTION ITEMS: We have donations from more than thirty local businesses, including about a dozen professionally decorated cakes and more than $1500 in gift cards. Click here to review the list, and plan your bids now!
  • JOIN US FOR "AFTERCAKE": When the music stops and the mess is cleaned up, join your friends and fellow GHBOB members for a drink and some social interaction that does not include screaming kids and sticky icing. Meet us at the Grandview Theater (a generous donor to this year's BOBCake Bash silent auction) Friday night. ALL ARE WELCOME! See you there, after the Bash!
Finally, please remember that in addition to volunteering, the best way you can help us at this point is to SPREAD THE WORD among your own personal, social, family, and neighborhood networks. (Click here for pdf and png files you can share.) The more people who attend and participate in the Cupcake Concert and BOBCake Bash, the more fun everyone will have and the more funds we will raise. It's truly a win-win proposition and each and every one of you can help make that happen. THANK YOU AND WE WILL SEE YOU AT THE CONCERT AND THE BASH!
