GHBOB UPDATE

​Good Tuesday morning, GHBOB families! Please read on for a few important updates from the GHBOB.

1. MARCHING BAND SENIORS HELP LIGHT THE PIT! Did you know? Our Marching Band seniors got to take part in a fabled Grandview tradition last week, the "pit lighting" ceremony at the Bobcat Boosters annual Ox Roast! Click here for the front page story and photos on our web site, with thanks to GHBOB member Sandy O'Harra for some of the best pics, and to the Bobcat Boosters for including our students!
2. MIDDLE SCHOOL SHIRT FORMS DUE THIS FRIDAY SEPT 15: If you have a 5th-8th grade band/orchestra student in your home and have not yet submitted the middle school t-shirt order form, please do so today by clicking here. All forms are due by this Friday, Sept 15, and we ask that ALL STUDENTS submit a form, even if you already have a t-shirt from last year to wear. PLEASE HELP US SPREAD THE WORD, since not all middle school parents are on our mailing list. Thanks!
3. FRIDAY BUS TRIP BOXED MEAL: Just a heads up to Marching Band families, as Mrs. Olis mentioned in her weekly update this week's road trip is a long one. Arcadia HS is nearly two hours away by bus, so the students will be leaving early and returning late. Your student is free to bring snacks of their own, of course, but we wanted to let you know that the GHBOB will also be arranging for boxed meals for the students this week as well.

   HS HONOR BAND OPPORTUNITY: A reminder for families of high school instrumentalists, there is information available on our web site about the Capital University Honor Band festival coming up in November. Click here for more details. Interested students should see Mrs. Olis for a nomination form by September 19.

   8TH GRADE BAND MARCHING PERFORMANCE: Just a heads up for 8th grade families who may not have caught the note on our calendar - our 8th grade band students will have the opportunity to march and play on the field with the GHHS Marching Band this year on Friday September 29. Mark your calendars and alert the grandparents! More details to come from Mrs. Olis soon, but your band member will be expected to wear their navy blue GHHS Bands concert performance t-shirt. Don't know where it is? Click here to order a new one by this Friday.

   CONCERT SEASON BEGINS SOON: Our GHHS Jazz Ensemble will kick off the concert performance season for the GH instrumental music groups next month, giving their annual Fall Concert in the GHHS Auditorium on October 18 at 7pm. Parents of younger musicians, this is a great way to introduce your student to the jazz music art form. Mark your calendar and plan to come watch these HS students jam!
