GHBOB UPDATE

​Good morning GHBOB families! We have just a few important updates and a great story to share - please read on.

1. A REAL FAMILY AFFAIR: President's Day weekend at Ohio Wesleyan University brought together two Grandview Heights sisters, two generations of band directors from one family, and a total of eight GH middle and high school musicians for an amazing learning and performance opportunity. And GHBOB congratulates Tucker Betz, Mira Bondy, Max McCollough, Halle McNamara, Ashlyn Quinby, Isla Swisher, Charlotte Ritzman, and Rose Ritzman for being selected to participate in this special weekend of music-making!
2. HAVE YOU HEARD ABOUT THE BLITZ!? GHBOB is in the middle of 30-day friend-raising effort we are calling the "30-Day Volunteer Blitz". You can follow along on our Facebook page, or on our web site by clicking here. We are also hosting a special Leap Day "LEAP INTO VOLUNTEERING" casual meetup TOMORROW NIGHT (THU FEB 29), from 7pm to 9pm at the Grandview Theater. Grab a friend and join us for a drink, some casual conversation and laughs and, if you are so inclined, some information about our upcoming volunteer needs. We would love to see you there!

   FREE MONEY FREE MONEY FREE MONEY! Now that I have your attention. . . . graduating seniors in the Orchestra and Band programs are eligible to apply for two scholarships sponsored annually by GHBOB, and the application period closes THIS WEEK. Please click here to visit our web site for more information, including links to the online applications.

   SCHEDULE CLARIFICATION: Eagle eyes may have noticed that our last email update contained a March 12 "concert" for the GHHS Concert Band, which was also called a "seminar" on our web site calendar. Turns out, they are both right! The GHHS Concert Band is performing at OMEA large group contest this year on the weekend of March 15, and the March 12 event will essentially be a final "run through" of the three pieces they will play for the adjudicators at contest in preparation for the big day. So, as far as we parents and family are concerned, it will look pretty much like a concert!

   HIGH SCHOOL SCHEDULING: Finally, just one last reminder for parents of 8th through 11th graders as your students finalize their schedules for the upcoming school year. If you need any info about how band can (and should!) fit into your students' high school planning, please click here (8th grade) or here (9-11th grade)for a letter from Mrs. Olis answering all of your major questions.
