GHBOB UPDATE

YOU GUYS! This school year is almost over, can you believe it? We still have a few important stories to share and news to relay though, and of course it's already time to ​

start prepping for NEXT year, so please read on for some important updates. 

1. SO MUCH TO CELEBRATE: Our students have been very busy since we last wrote, giving concerts, receiving awards, working with clinicians, and traveling to King's Island. Click here to visit the front page of our web site for a story about the 7th and 8ths grade musicians' big day on Saturday, and then scroll down for a second story about the awards and recognition that our directors offered to many of our band and orchestra students during our final concerts two weeks ago. And let's give a big round of virtual applause for everyone who made any of that happen - we have a LOT to be proud of these days!
2. SENIOR PICNIC: If you have a senior band member in your home, please make sure they have added the May 19 Band Senior Picnic to their calendars! You can click here for details and to RSVP (we are still missing quite a few of them). GHBOB initiated this tradition in 2021 as a last opportunity for seniors and their directors to hang out and swap stories before graduating and going their separate ways, and it's always very popular and a fun farewell for those students. We hope to have a great turnout for the class of 2024!

   SUMMER EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES: Click here for the page on our web site where we share summer learning and performance opportunities for our instrumental music students. It's a little thin right now but we will keep it constantly updated with anything our directors come across that they think is worth sharing. Got something to share? Send it our way via this email address, and we will add it to the list!

   BAND CAMP! Information and registration materials for GHHS MARCHING BAND CAMP 2024 are finally ready on our web site! Click here to visit the Band Camp 2024 page and find everything you need to know about the schedule, cost, required forms, and other information. REGISTRATION FORMS and PAYMENT are due by June 30 (links to those forms are also available on the web site, if you happen to misplace this message). Note that we NEED THE REGISTRATION FORM submitted for every GHHS Marching Band student, even if your student cannot attend camp for some reason, so that we can still order them a row shirt for 2024. Please also remember that we do not yet have an updated class roster from the school so for now we are assuming that ALL CURRENT 8th through 11th grade band members will be members of the 2024 GHHS Marching Band. If you have one of those students in your home and they are NOT planning to continue with band in high school, you can let us know that via reply email, and we won't bother you for forms and payment in the future.

   GHBOB MEETING, OFFICER ELECTIONS, AND SOCIAL HOUR: The FINAL meeting for the 2023-24 GHBOB will be on Thursday May 16 at 6:30pm in the GHHS Band Room. Among other things, we will be electing officers for the coming year. Please join us if you are interested! After the meeting at a location TBD, we also plan a social hour to celebrate our departing senior parent volunteers and the end of an incredibly successful year for our band and orchestra students. MARK YOUR CALENDARS and stay tuned for more details, because if you haven't figured it out by now GHBOB members are super fun to be around and hang out with and you won't be sorry you joined us. ALL ARE WELCOME!

   FINAL PERFORMANCES: A reminder that our GHHS Marching Band does have two more performances before the school year ends. A select group of them (typically seniors and squad leaders, but Mrs. Olis will provide specific instructions) will perform at the city's Blue Star Mother's ceremony on Thursday May 23 at the GH Memorial Park. And then the full GHHS Marching Band will march the streets of Grandview one last time at the GH Memorial Day parade on Saturday March 25. Both dates will be here before you know it, so mark your calendars now!
