GHBOB UPDATE

Good morning and WELCOME to those of you who may be hearing from the GH Band & Orchestra Boosters for the very first time! At the beginning of the school year we ​

do our best to get connected with the adult family members of ALL instrumental music students (orchestra, band, and jazz) across all grade levels in Grandview Heights. We are still building our distribution list, but we are glad to have found our way to so many of you already. You are ALL members of the GHBOB, and you can read more about who we are and what we do by clicking here. In the meantime, a few important updates are below.

1. DECAL DRIVE: a BIG, HUGE thank you to all of our high school music students and our MANY adult volunteers who braved the heat on Sunday evening to knock on doors as part of our annual Decal Drive fundraiser. If you have a neighbor, friend, or family member who would still like to donate, IT IS NOT TOO LATE! You can direct them to our web site (click here to find it), and the yellow "donate" button that is front and center at the top of the page. Every little bit helps - $5 sends a GH student to an OSU concert, for example. Thanks for doing your part to help support our fundraising efforts!
2. HOW DO YOU LIKE THEM APPLES? In case you missed it on our Facebook group this weekend, there's a great story on our web site right now about a Gallia County high school marching band tradition that found its way to Grandview Heights on Friday night, thanks to a couple of very thoughtful GHBOB members. Click here to read it!
3. CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS: Last week was the first time in as long as I can remember that we had 100% of our volunteer slots filled before kickoff on the day of the first game. WOW AND THANK YOU! Now...let's do it all over again! Please click here to view the fall volunteering signupgenius, and claim as many spots as you are humanly capable of handling......paying special attention to the open slots for THIS Friday, August 25 of course. ALL ARE WELCOME - you don't have to have a marching band student, the funds we raise support ALL student programming. And you don't have to know anything about the work. It's easy and fun and we will teach you!

   ADDITIONAL VOLUNTEER NEEDED: And hey, while we are talking about volunteers....GHBOB is in search of a volunteer to help track orders for MIDDLE SCHOOL concert t-shirts (order forms will be available to all families very soon). This volunteer will help ensure that we receive a shirt order from every new family, and will work with the vendor and our directors to get the shirts ordered and delivered to students at school. Orders will be taken starting next week with the deadline in mid-September and delivery before the 8th grade band night performance on September 29. NOTE: you do NOT have to collect any money, as all payments are submitted online. This is an ideal job for a middle school parentwho is looking for a way to get involved!    GHHS MARCHING BAND, WEEK 2: finally, Mrs. Olis's week 2 update is available by clicking here. She also reminds all GHHS marching band members to be prepared for outside marching on Tuesday and Friday during class time, as well as the Thursday evening rehearsal - it's going to be HOT this week and students should bring water and sunscreen and wear good marching shoes.
