BAND PARENTS' UPDATE

Greetings Band Families, and welcome to the GH Band Parents Association's weekly update. PLEASE NOTE in particular the volunteer opportunities below. Summer and fall

are VERY "front-loaded" times for the Band Parents Association, between HS Band Camp and two of our three biggest fundraising opportunities (Decal Drive and concessions sales), and we will continue to need a LOT of volunteers between now and November to make it all happen. Reminder that Jazz Ensemble and Middle School parents are welcome and encouraged to volunteer as well. The money we raise benefits all our band students! 

1. DECAL DRIVE VOLUNTEER SIGNUP: On August 22, the GHHS MB will go door-to-door in Grandview Heights, handing out Marching Band door decals and seeking financial support from our community members. The annual Decal Drive is a significant fundraiser for the BPA, and we need LOTS of parent volunteers to make it happen. Please click here to find the signupgenius, and help out however you can

   CONCESSIONS SIGNUP: Hey, did we mention that concessions sales at Bobcat home football games are also a big fundraiser for the Band Parents? Yeah, we thought so! So while we have you in the signing up mood, please click here to sign up for a few concessions shifts, too. Please and thank you!

   BAND CAMP THANKS! The Band Parents want to echo Mr. Herrmann with another huge THANK YOU to all the parents who helped make GHHS Marching Band Camp possible this year. Parent support is crucial for Band Camp every year, but this year in particular, when we had to throw all the details together in a very compressed time period, we really could not have done without all of you. Thanks to everyone who helped make it happen.

   HS BAND UNIFORMS: ALL MEMBERS OF THE GHHS MARCHING BAND need to visit this google doc ASAP to provide data needed to assign a formal marching band uniform. Uniforms will be individually fitted in the next week or so (more details to follow), but having this form filled out in advance makes the process much more efficient. Please ensure your student fills out this form BEFORE NOON TODAY (MON 8/2). 
5. GHHS MARCHING BAND SCHEDULE THIS WEEK: this week is the beginning of the GHHS Marching Band's evening rehearsal schedule, which will continue throughout football season. Rehearsals are scheduled this week on Tue and Thu from 8pm-10pm. The GHHS MB will also perform at the City of Grandview's "National Night Out" event this Tuesday at 5pm. All the details for where to report and what to where are available in Mr. Herrmann's email message from yesterday (which has been posted on the blog as well, in case you can't find it.) Any time your student will miss a scheduled event, for any reason, Mr. Herrmann asks that you submit the absence form available on the Documents page of our web site.

   HS PICTURE DAY [CORRECTED TIMES]: the GHHS Athletic Dept fall picture day is NEXT MPONDAY, Aug 9. A full band photo will be taken at 1:45 pm with senior banner photos and other individual shots taken before the group pic. All seniors and anyone else would like an individual picture taken should arrive to get into uniform around 12:45pm, and the remainder of the Band should arrive to begin dressing by 1pm. (NOTE: these times are updated since Mr. Herrmann's email from yesterday.) We are aware that for seniors in particular, this could make course schedule pickup and new building tours a bit of a challenge, but we are hopeful that you will be done by about 2pm, which still leaves time to dash over to the new building for that purpose. Note that there's an alternative date for schedule pickup and building tours as well, if your senior prefers not to rush.
