BAND PARENTS' UPDATE

Greetings, GH instrumental music families! Lots of exciting things going on, please read on for updates!

1. TWO ORCHESTRA VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES: if you have an orchestra student at home, Mr. Stanley needs your help! Parents of fifth and sixth grade students are invited to help chaperone the students during their upcoming concert on Feb 24 (the blessing of having so manyorchestra students in these grades leads to the challenge of helping them all maintain appropriate concert behavior!). Parents of seventh through twelfth grade orchestra students are invited to help chaperone an upcoming field trip on March 3 (see below). Please click here to visit the signupgenius if you are able to help with either event. Thanks!
2. ORCHESTRA FIELD TRIP: Did we mention we're sponsoring another field trip? The BPA is proud to underwrite Mr. Stanley's plan to take his 7th through 12th grade orchestra students to see Columbus's own ProMusica Chamber Orchestra and their "Naked Classics" program on March 3. Naked Classics explores classical music in a fun and fresh multimedia format through images, sound bites, interviews with the musicians, and all with the guidance of a super entertaining and very funny master of ceremonies. The program's theme is "Mozart: Journey of a Genius", and you can read more about it by clicking here. Should be a great learning opportunity for our students, and there are tickets available for purchase via that same link if you'd like to go too.
3. SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS: Just a reminder that our two BPA scholarships are now open. Applications and additional information are available on our web site, by clicking here. Any graduating senior currently enrolled in an instrumental music course is eligible to apply - and remember that your student is permitted to apply for both scholarships. Applications must be submitteed electronically no later than 11:59pm on March 1. 
4. CONCERTS COMING SOON! Remember that our next round of concerts is coming up next week, starting on Weds Feb 22 with the middle school bands. We are thrilled to announce that this concert will take place in our newly renovated GHHS auditorium! 5th and 6th grade band students will perform at 6pm, followed by the 7th and 8th grade bands at 7pm. The orchestra students will give their next concert performance on Fri Feb 24, beginning at 5:30pm (location TBD). The orchestra groups will perform in grade order, beginning with the 5th grade, and there will be a short intermission between the 6th and 7th grade performances. REMINDER that instrumentalists in grades 5-8 should wear their BPA-purchased GH logo shirts for the concert performance, so please help your child locate theirs before the concert day arrives!
