BAND PARENTS' UPDATE

Good morning, Band families! Here's what's coming up over the next few days - as we prepare for the start of school oh so very, very soon. Read on!

1. VOLUNTEERS STILL NEEDED: we still need just a very few more (seven, at last count) parent volunteers to help with set up and tear down for the Falco Park concert on Sunday 8/11. Please visit the signupgenius today, and help us if you can! FYI, students should wear  summer uniform for the event, including white marching shoes. The band room will open at 5:30pm, and tubas and percussion should plan to load instruments at 6pm. All students report to Falco by 6:45pm, and showtime is 7pm sharp.
2. FALL PHOTO DAY: photo day for all fall GHHS Athletic Department organizations, including the Marching Band, is next Monday August 12 at 2pm. A group photo will be taken of the entire band, as well as individual senior photos for senior banners. This date is established and scheduled by the Athletic Dept and we have no control over it - and unfortunately there is typically no makeup date
3. GET INVOLVED! Interested in finding a new way to contribute to your student's activities at GHHS? The BPA is always looking for new members, committee chairs, and volunteers - because every year some seniors graduate, and their Band Parents usually "graduate" right along with them! Grandview Heights Band Parent Association Meetings are typically held on the third Thursday of each month. If you are an adult family member of a Grandview band student grades 5-12, then you are a "band parent," and you are welcome to join us. The next meeting is Thursday August 15 at 6:30pm in the GHHS Band Room. We'd love to see you, then and there!
4. COMMUNICATION REMINDERS: things will start coming at you fast and furious over the next few months as the football season kicks into high gear. Just a reminder that all emails from the Band Parents and Mr. Herrmann are posted on the band web site blog page, tagged by category for ease of searching. If you think you missed something, you can always check there. Mr. Herrmann regularly updates the band calendar, also available on the band web site, and you can synch it with your own calendar if you like. In addition, Bobcat Bands 101 is now a permanent fixture on the web site, and contains a lot of basic information about the entire year for the Grandview bands program. You can also follow the Band Parents on Facebook and/or Twitter (see details below). Or reply to this email address any time with questions or to add a new email address to our distribution list. Choose the method(s) that work best for you and your family!
