BAND PARENTS' UPDATE

1. (literally) hundreds of volunteer hours to make Band Camp a reality every year. For the parents of rising freshmen, this is a great way to start helping out and getting involved, so don't be shy! Special note to the DADS out there: we always have to beg, plead, cajole, and coerce to get enough chaperones for the men's dorm floors every year. Please help us fill those slots!
2. HIGH SCHOOL UNIFORMS: current 8th graders planning to participate in HS marching band next year will be measured for HS uniform pieces at school during their band period on May 8. Your student should wear clothes that day that s/he can easily slip athletic shorts and a polo shirt on over top of. Each student will need to purchase a white GH Bands polo shirt, navy blue GH bands shorts, white marching shoes, and gloves, and all orders must be placed through the Band Parents Association to ensure a uniform appearance. Upper class students in need of new or replacement items may also place orders as needed. Order forms available here, and all orders must be placed by June 3.
3. SPRING CABARET: the GHHS Jazz Ensemble will perform at and in support of the GHHS Vocal Music Department's Spring Cabaret this week, on Thursday May 9 at 7:30pm in the GHHS auditorium. The evening will feature various solo, duet, and small ensemble vocal performances. $5 admission, open to the public. Check it out!
4. 2019 SENIORS: if you didn't get a copy of the program and senior insert at the final concert of the year, a .pdf version is available here. We are very sorry that we ran out!
5. BAND CAMP REMINDERS: finally, families who will have a student in the GHHS marching band next fall should  be working on their band camp forms (particularly getting doctor's signatures on those medication forms, which can be a big old pain in the....neck....), as that June 28 deadline will be here before you know it. Pre-camp rehearsals start the week of July 15, and camp is July 21-16 at Wittenberg University. For more details check out the camp newsletter and the camp page on our web site.
