BAND PARENTS' UPDATE

Good morning, Grandview music families and WELCOME BACK! Hard to believe that today is the first day of a new school year, but as always.....the calendar just keeps

moving forward, and here we all are. We hope that many of you were able to join us last night for the GHHS Marching Band's Falco Park concert - what a beautiful night of music-making! Please read on for some important information from the GH Band Parents Association!

1. WHO WE ARE AND HOW WE COMMUNICATE: Some of you may be new to our group - if so, WELCOME! The GHBPA is an all-volunteer booster organization that raises funds and supports ALL of our instrumental music programs across all GH schools - including orchestra, concert band, marching band, and our jazz groups. All told, that's a total of about 285 students for 2022-23. If you have one of them in your home, congratulations - you're a GHBPA member! The GHBPA uses email blasts like this one as our primary mode of communication, but we do our best to tailor our distributions (HINT: we tell you who the message was sent to, up at the top of each message) so you only get what you need, when you need it. HS Marching Band families will hear from us about once a week during marching season; other families will hear from us less frequently throughout the year. If you are looking for info outside of these emails, we also maintain a web site (click here to find it), and ALL of our email communications are posted there as well (click here for the communications page). Finally, we also maintain a private Facebook group where we share reminders and lots of photos from events and activities. Please search GHBandParents and ask to join.
2. DECAL DRIVE REMINDER: This Sunday, Aug 21, from 5pm to 7pm, our GHHS Marching Band students will go door to door throughout our community, seeking donations in support of our instrumental music programs. This is the GHBPA's single largest annual fundraiser, and we ask all of you for your support! If you prefer to hand a check to the smiling Band students on your front porch on Sunday, feel free to wait until then - but you can also donate right now by visiting our web site and clicking the yellow "Donate" button at the top of the page. Please help us spread the word and invite your friends, neighbors, and family members to help us support the bands as well! (A HUGE THANK YOU to all those of you who have volunteered to assist with Decal Drive - the signupgenius is available here if you need to review any details.)
3. SPONSORSHIPS AVAILABLE! In conjunction with the Decal Drvie, we also welcome sponsorships - so if you own or have an association with a local business that might be interested in supporting our GH instrumental music programs, please click here for more information on the benefits of sponsorship. You can also contact BPA President Dot Keil for more details.
4. YOUR NAME HERE: Autumn is an extremely busy time for GHBPA! In addition to the Decal Drive, a second significant source of funding is the home concessions stand, which we staff for all JV and varsity Bobcat home football games. Volunteers are needed for that important job and we WELCOME ALL COMERS - you don't have to have a student in the HS Marching Band, and no experience is necessary! (It's easy and I swear it's also actually fun!)    PLAY BALL! Our football Bobcats open their season this THURSDAY, Aug 18, at Centennial High School, which will be the first marching performance for our GHHS Marching Band. Student dress will be summer uniforms (white GHHS MB polo shirt, navy GHHS MB shorts, short white socks, white marching shoes). We will post call time details on the web site and Facebook later in the week.
