BAND PARENTS' UPDATE

Good morning GH band families, and congratulations to our marching Bobcats who had two great performances this weekend at Columbus Academy with the football team and

on Sunday afternoon in a Grandview Heights front yard. It was a super fun party for a Sunday afternoon. Great job, students and staff!

1. CONCERT SEASON COMING SOON! It's hard to believe, but football season is approaching completion, and that means that all of our band students will soon be heading into serious concert preparations. The HS Jazz Ensemble, all middle school bands (grades 5-8), and the HS Concert Band are all planning for concerts in the coming weeks, and for many MANY parents, especially in the middle school ranks, this year will be the first time we get to see our students in person in a live performance. So I know we are all excited, and I am sure our students are too! Stay tuned for updates on schedule and location, coming soon to an in-box near you.
2. ATTENTION PARENTS OF MARCHING BAND SENIORS: Have you submitted this form for Senior Night yet? We would like to have them back ASAP - and by TOMORROW (Tue Oct 12) MORNING at the latest. Please talk to your student and make sure the form is submitted very soon. Thanks!
3. SEASON IN REVIEW: In addition to a few more game night performances, the GHHS Marching Band will also wrap up its marching season with its annual "Season in Review" performance at GHHS Stadium on Thu, October 28 at 7pm. The Pride of Grandview Heights will run through all of their 2021 shows, and this performance is free and open to the public. It's a great opportunity to bring your young middle schoolers to see the GHHS Band in action one more time, and especially to keep those 8th graders interested in and excited about continuing on into the high school band program. Come join us!
4. FIELD TRIP UPDATE: Hey, did we mention how excited we are to be sending ALL GH BAND STUDENTS IN GRADES 5-12 to Ohio State for the OSU Marching Band concert on November 5??? Permission slips for the field trip will be coming soon, so please watch for and complete those as soon as they become available. In addition, we wanted to let you know that the Band Parents are coordinating with the District's Food Services team (to whom we are supremely grateful!), to provide lunch for all band students upon their return from Ohio State, because the students will be gone from the school buildings during lunchtime. More information on this will be coming soon as well, but we wanted to let you know that it was being arranged.
5. CONCESSIONS VOLUNTEERS: As mentioned, football season is almost over....but it's not quite over yet! We still need a few more hands for the final home varsity game of the season on Friday October 22, so please click here and sign up if you can help. It's senior night, so we like to let the parents of our band seniors have the night off - which means this is a great opportunity for parents of middle schoolers or younger HS students. Thanks for considering!
6. NEXT BAND PARENTS MEETING: As you can tell from the above, the Band Parents Association is pretty excited about a lot of things these days, and are having a lot of fun itoo. Interested in learning more and potentially helping out? Join us for our next monthly meeting this Thursday, October 14, at 6:30pm in the Media Center of the NEW Larson Middle School building. All are welcome and we'd love to see you!
