BAND PARENTS' UPDATE

7/13/2021

Greetings, Grandview Band families . . . .please read on for ways that parents of all of our band students can contribute to the success of our band programs!
  1. SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES: Just a reminder that the GH Bands sponsorship program is now in full swing, and we have had several new sponsors sign up already - YAY! Details are available here, including a link to our online sponsorship form. If you know of any local businesses, clubs, or other groups who might be interested in supporting our Grade 5 through 12 band students, please feel free to contact them directly and share this information, because the personal touch is always best. (If you need help or just want to suggest someone for us to approach, please contact Dot Keil to discuss). And keep in mind that at just $100, our "Solo" level sponsorship is perfectly suited to individuals or families - so feel free to invite Grandma, Aunt Sally, and your neighbor George to become GH Bands sponsors, too. There's room for all on the (figurative) band bus!
  2. CONCESSION VOLUNTEERING: the signupgenius is NOW AVAILABLE for volunteering in the concession stand during Bobcat home football games this fall. Please click here and sign up for as many slots as you can! ALL band parents are welcome to volunteer, but please remember that this is an especially great opportunity for middle school and jazz ensemble parents to pitch in, to allow marching band parents the opportunity to actually see their students in action. The concession stand operation represents a significant chunk of the GHBPA's fundraising for the year, and the money that we raise there benefits all of our band students. Also, it's really fun! Please help if you can!

  3. REMIND YOURSELF: Mr. Herrmann has reinitiated his "Remind" account for the high school bands for the 2021-22 academic year. You can join his list by visiting this link, or you can simply text @ghmb21 to 81010. Mr. Herrmann uses this account to text reminders to students and families about report times, uniform/dress requirements, and (especially valuable for band camp and away football games) anticipated arrival times back at school after travel events. Invaluable resource - we recommend you and your student join today!
  4. WE NEED YOU! We are still in need of just a couple more parent volunteers to serve as overnight chaperones at Band Camp. Please click here to see whether there is a day that will fit your schedule. HAVE I MENTIONED THAT WE CANNOT GO TO CAMP WITHOUT HAVING THESE SLOTS FILLED? Thank you for considering!

  5. WE ALSO NEED A NURSE FOR ONE DAY: Are you a nurse? Do you know a nurse? We are also still in need of a nurse to cover just onedaytime shift at Band Camp (Mon 7/26, from roughly 8am to 8pm). Pay for the day will be $80, and lunch is provided. PLEASE reply to this email or contact Dot Keil if you are able to help, or know of someone that we can contact.
  6. OTHER BAND CAMP UPDATES: THANKS TO ALL THE HS BAND FAMILIES who submitted forms and payment for Band Camp before last week's deadline - nearly everything is in! ALL GHMB FAMILIES should have received an email this past weekend either confirming your materials are complete or identifying what's missing - please get those last few items items in ASAP. Mr. Herrmann provided details last week about the schedule for pre-camp rehearsal week (find his message hereon the blog, if you missed it). In addition, the packing list, camp rules, and other helpful information can be found in the Band Camp Newsletter, available here. We will be providing additional information about check-in and departure for camp very soon. In the meantime if you have questions, don't hesitate to ask!
