BAND PARENTS' UPDATE

Greetings, Bobcat Band families! As you hopefully know by now, Mr. Herrmann confirmed on Friday that our band students will be returning to sleepaway Band Camp
this summer (click here if you missed his announcement), and WE ARE THRILLED! Read on for important details about what we will need from you and when.
  1. PAYMENT: the cost to families for 2021 is the same as previous years, $250 for the first student and $225 for the second, with a $500 cap for families of three or more band students. Click here to submit your payment. Confidential financial assistance is available if needed, please contact Mr. Herrmann for details. All payments are due by July 7, 2021. 
  2. CAMP FORMS: Band Camp forms are available here. All studentsattending camp need to complete the Student Registration Form, including student and parent/guardian signatures. We also need a front/back photocopy of the medical insurance card that covers the student. Finally, the Request for Administration of Medication form must be completed for all prescription and over-the-counter medication (except for acetaminophen/ibuprofen) that your student may need during the week. Please note that a separate form is required for each medication, and a physician's signature is required on each form. Completing this paperwork is often the most time-consuming part for families, so please get started right away! Completed paperwork should be dropped off in the enclosed front porch at 1419 Mulford, and all paperwork is due by July 7, 2021. 
  3. CAMP NEWSLETTER: the 2021 Band Camp Newsletter is available here, and contains all of the information you see above, as well as a lot of other helpful details. A packing list is included, as well as important dates and times, and a list of Camp Rules and Expectations. Please refer to it for all of your Band Camp information needs!
  4. VOLUNTEERS: this will not be the first time you hear this this season - but we do need your help to make Band Camp a reality. Please visit the signupgenius and sign up for as many slots as you are able to fill! In particular, we need overnight chaperones to spend the night in the dorms with the students each night - and we need extra chaperones for "senior night" (Thu July 24, the last night of camp), when the seniors traditionally stay up later than the other students for special activities. 
  5. NURSE NEEDED: finally, the BPA is in search of a licensed nurse who can spend the week with our campers at Ohio Wesleyan to dispense medications and attend to any injuries and illnesses that might arise during the week. This is a paid camp staff position, and room and board is also provided, as it does require a 24/7 presence with the campers, as well as attendance at Sunday camper check-in at GHHS to receive medications. This "job" runs from roughly Sunday at noon through Friday at noon, but there is lots of down time that the individual can fill however they choose as long as they remain accessible at OWU. If you are a nurse, or know any nurses in your personal networks who might be interested in filling this role, please contact Dot Keil or reply to this email for more information.
