BAND PARENTS' UPDATE

Greetings, Grandview Band families! What a great weekend we just had! The GHHS Marching Bobcats took to the field for pregame and halftime performances for the first

time in two years, we opened up the newly streamlined concessions operations to wide acclaim, and to top it all off, our HS students pounded the pavement HARD last night and raised a ton of money during the return of the annual GH Bands Decal Drive. All in all it was a great weekend for our band program!
Please read on for a few important updates from the Band Parents, including several ways you can help us keep the momentum going.

1. "I'M WITH THE BAND" T-SHIRT FUNDRAISER: Thanks to our very good friends at State of Devotion (with a design assist from our friend and fellow band parent Janna Thompson-Chordas), the GH Band Parents are very pleased to offer this terrific "I'm with the Band" GH Bands t-shirt, available for $15 in sizes ranging from YXS to 4X. What a fun way to show your support of the GH Band Programs! The BPA has a goal of increasing student activity opportunities across all grade levels this year, and this supplemental fundraiser will help us achieve that. They will make great gifts for Grandma, aunts and uncles, and really everyone on your Christmas list, so stock up now, because they're only available until September 13!

   AWAY GAME CHAPERONES: Interested in a free ride to the Bobcats' game at Centerburg this week? Have I got a deal for you! We need a handful of parents to ride the bus with the HS Marching Band as chaperones to assist Mr. Herrmann and Mr. Stanley in supervising the students. Can you help? If so, please reply to this email, or email Dot Keilfor more information. If you can't help this week but want to volunteer for one of the other away games this season, here are the dates: Aug 27, Sep 3, Sep 10, Sep 17, Oct 8, and Oct 15. Let us know!
3. CONCESSIONS NEEDS YOU: I'm not kidding when I tell you it was super easy and really fun to work the concession stand this past Friday. Everyone can do it! And guess what? WE NEED EVERYONE TO DO IT! The varsity Bobcats are on the road for the next month, but there are home JV football games every Saturday for the next four weeks and right now we have NO VOLUNTEERS signed up for any of them. JV games are a great volunteering opportunity for parents of HS band students who don't want to miss the Friday night marching performances - and again, we also really do welcome volunteers from our jazz ensemble and middle school families too. The funds we raise through concessions operations help us underwrite the professional jazz artists who perform with our students each year, coordinate concert shirt sales for the middle schoolers, and purchase music rights and repair instruments for all grade levels. Please consider signing up to help us refill our coffers, so we can continue to support all of our GH band students!

5. GRATITUDE: Finally, while many MANY parents were involved in the success of our concessions and Decal Drive operations this weekend, we here at BPA HQ want to give especially big shout-outs to Brenda Parker(concessions) and Janna Thompson-Chordas (Decal Drive) for so capably leading these two efforts. We are so grateful for all you have done to make them both huge successes!
