This message was sent to all 2018 HIGH SCHOOL BAND FAMILIES and ALL 8TH GRADE BAND FAMILIES 1. WE (STILL) NEED YOU: we still need a few folks to sign up to be overnight chaperones for band camp. Please note, you are not expected to be a bouncer, cop, or security guard. You’ll tag along on the evening social event, and then spend the night in a dorm room. Your main responsibility is to make sure that the kids on your floor quiet down and stay in their rooms at lights-out time. Mr. Herrmann and the band camp staff also stay in the dorms, and are there if you need them, but the idea is to let them get a little bit of rest in the absence of any major shenanigans. (And if your little sweetheart objects to the idea of you coming to camp with them, we will do our best to assign you to a different floor!) We are very grateful to the volunteers that have already signed up – but if you have not done so yet, please consider taking a slot, or even two. Find the signupgenius here. Thanks!
2. BLUE STAR MOTHERS EVENT: this Thursday, May 24, is the Grandview Heights Blue Star Mother’s event. All current seniors and next year’s squad leaders are expected to attend. Wear summer band shirt and shorts, with any shoes other than flip flops or sandals. Report directly to the memorial park at the intersection of Oxley and Northwest, at 7:15pm. The band room will be open from 6:30-7pm, and for 30 minutes following the performance. 3. MEMORIAL DAY PARADE: all current GHHS marching band members (including graduating seniors) are expected to participate in the Grandview Heights Memorial Day parade this Saturday, May 26. Dress in full summer uniform, including white shoes. Report time is 9:30am. Meet in the parking lot of First Community Church at the corner of First Avenue and Cambridge Blvd. The band room will be open from 8:30-9:15am, and for 30 minutes following the parade. 4.
