BAND PARENTS UPDATE

Hello, Grandview Heights Bands families! We hope that everyone's new year is off to a great start. We have just a few reminders below from the Band Parents Association,

now that 2020 is really kicking into gear. 

1. CAKE WALK: it may seem like the 71st annual Grandview Heights Cake Walk is a long way off, but it will be here before you know it. (For those who may be new to this tradition, please click here for more details.) The Cake Walk is a major fundraiser for the Band Parents Association and requires a huge number of adult volunteers to make it possible. Whether you have a 5th grader who is just starting out in the band program, or a senior who is just about to leave it, or anything in between - we need you! More details will be forthcoming, but in the meantime please mark your calendar now for April 3 and plan to lend a hand that evening. We appreciate you!
2. IS YOUR BAND STUDENT IN EIGHTH GRADE?: if so, it's not too early to start thinking about next year. The GHHS Marching Band kicks off its activities in the summer, with practices and band camp starting in late July, and evening rehearsals and a pre-season concert all occurring before school starts in August. (See Mr. Herrmann's message with schedule details here.) More details regarding band camp forms and registration, and uniform orders and pricing, will be available beginning in April but in the meantime you will want to note these dates for summer scheduling purposes. 
3. DECAL DRIVE: another important fundraiser for the Band Parents is the annual Decal Drive that occurs each summer. GHHS band students and parent volunteers fan out throughout Grandview to knock on doors and invite our fellow citizens to support the band programs. We wanted to give you a heads up now that the Decal Drive won't be held on the Sunday after band camp, as it has been in the past - instead it will occur this year on Sunday August 16, 2020, which is the Sunday after school begins. We are helpful that this change will allow us to catch more folks at home (instead of away on vacation), and also will make it a little easier for you, our band families, to plan summer getaways and still support the band program. 
4. DID YOU KNOW?: all printed programs from middle school and high school band concerts for the last twelve months are available in pdf form here, on the band's web site. Check it out!
