BAND PARENTS' UPDATE

9/16/2019

Greetings, Band families, and happy Homecoming week! Here's what's happening......
  1. YES, WE STILL NEED YOU: I hate to sound like a broken record, but, wait....no I don't. That's actually my job! LOTS of parents volunteers are still needed to help hang senior banners and also work concessions for this week's Homecoming game against Bexley. Freshmen, sophomore, junior parents (and middle school parents are welcome too!) - this is one of those times when we really need you, since some senior parents may be otherwise occupied. Please visit the signupgeniuses today and help us out if you can, so I don't have to keep annoying you all later in the week!
  2. MIDDLE SCHOOL SHIRTS: middle school band members (grades 5-8) wear a navy blue GH Bands polo shirt for all performances, and these shirts are supplied by the Band Parents Association to assure uniformity. All 5th grade students will be fitted by BPA volunteers during class this week, and order forms must be submitted no later than October 11. You may print the order form here and send it to school with a check, or click here to place your order online. Please note that ALL FIFTH GRADE STUDENTS ARE ASKED TO SUBMIT AN ORDER FORM, even if you are not ordering a shirt (because you already have a hand-me-down), so that we know everyone has one. Any student in grades 6-8 who needs to order a new shirt may also do so at this time - the Oct 11 deadline is the same.
  3. GLOVES: just a quick reminder that white marching gloves are alwaysavailable for sale on Friday nights, starting at band call time, for $4 a pair. If your HS Marching Band student has lost his or her gloves (and really, haven't they all??), please send them to the game with cash, and Band Parent volunteers will get them taken care of.
  4. HOMECOMING: as noted, this week is Homecoming, which means an extra performance for the GHHS Marching Band. The Homecoming parade precedes this week's football game, stepping off around 6pm from the middle school parking lot. Expect Mr. Herrmann to provide additional details for the students this week on call time and uniform requirements - but if you plan to watch the parade, it proceeds around the block, east down 1st Ave, then north on Grandview Ave, and then west on 3rd Ave right into the stadium. Feel free to catch them anywhere on the parade route.
  5. CONGRATULATIONS: last but not least, the GHHS Band program always represents well on the Homecoming Court, and 2019 is no exception. The Band Parents Association sends out a big congratulations to 2019 Homecoming Court members Sam Amurgis, Luke Berlin, Charlie Ferguson, Lauren Leach, and Ricky Matter, all of whom march with the Pride of Grandview Heights. Proud of our 2019 Bobcat Band Homecoming Court seniors!

Thanks, all!  Questions? Let me know!
