BAND PARENTS' UPDATE

Hello Grandview Bands families! September is already here if you can believe it (or, really, even if you can't). We've got just a few important updates this week for parents

of all grade levels, please read on!

1. SCHEDULE UPDATE AND VOLUNTEER NEED: The Bobcat's varsity football game against Whitehall HS scheduled for this Friday, Sept. 10 has been canceled due to Whitehall's current covid situation, so our Marching Band students will not be traveling to Whitehall on Friday 9/10. The GHHS Athletic Dept is currently trying to schedule another opponent for Friday and there is a chance it could result in a home game for the Bobcats. If that happens we will be making an URGENT CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS to staff the concession stand. Please stay tuned, watch your in-box, and plan to help out if you can. 
2. GET YOUR T-SHIRTS: Show your Grandview band pride with this exclusive "I'm With the Band" t-shirt, available for a limited time from our friends at State of Devotion. Proceeds from this sale will benefit the Band Parents' goal of expanding student programming opportunities this year across all grade levels. Great shirt, for a great cause! Available in YXS through 4X, but act fast - SALE ENDS SEPTEMBER 13! 
3. HS STUDENT VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: Hey, parents of HS Marching Band students, remember how happy we all were when our students were able to go back to Band Camp this year? That was only possible due to the generosity of our friends in the Bobcat Boosters and the GH/MC Education Foundation. As you all probably know, the Boosters kick off their big fundraiser this week, with the return of the Grandview Ox Roast to Pierce Field after a two-year hiatus. The Boosters have asked the Marching Band to supply just eight HS student volunteers to staff a game booth on Saturday afternoon and evening. Given that the Boosters put several thousand dollars towards our students' band experience, providing a small handful of volunteer hours at the Ox Roast seems like a pretty easy way to say thanks. PLEASE ENCOURAGE YOUR STUDENT TO VOLUNTEER - you can click here to add their name to the signup. 
4. HEADS UP, 8TH GRADE PARENTS: The 8th grade band will be marching with the GHHS Marching Band on Friday, October 1st! Mark your calendars, invite the grandparents (don't forget to buy Grandma this sweet shirt to wear when she comes to the game that night), and most importantly, please ask your band student to dig their navy blue GH middle school band polo shirt out of the closet and try it on. It's been two years since they wore them and we expect one or two students may have lost or outgrown theirs. The Band Parents need to know ASAP if any student will need another shirt to wear that night, so if your student's shirt no longer fits or can't be located, please let us know by replying to this email.
5. HS BUS CHAPERONES: We are still in search of a few parents to ride the buses with our HS Marching Band students to away games on Sept 17, Oct 8, and Oct 15. Please reply to this email or contact Dot Keildirectly if you can help.

Some of you may have missed out on earlier messages, as we are constantly adding to and updating our mailing lists.
