BAND PARENTS' UPDATE

4/4/2022

Hello Grandview music families - it's CAKE WALK week! Please read on for more details and reminders, and remember that you can always visit the Cake Walk page of
our web site if you have questions that are not answered below. Hope to see you on Friday, and PLEASE HELP US SPREAD THE WORD to your friends, family, and neighbors!
  1. CAKE WALK VOLUNTEERS: Please, please, PLEASE, if you have not yet visited the signupgenius and volunteered to help out with Cake Walk, do so now! We still have a few important slots to fill, and no experience is necessary. If your student has enjoyed anything about their instrumental music experience this year, chances are pretty good that the Band Parents helped to support it in some way - and this fundraiser is a significant reason why we are able to provide that support. We need just a little bit of your time to make it a success, and we are grateful for every bit of it - THANKS!
  2. CAKE WALK CAKES: In addition to your time, a reminder that we do also ask for your baked goods! Families are asked to donate one cake per instrumental music student in their home (so, one student = one donated cake, three students = three cakes, and so on). These cakes are given away as prizes during the event. (For more details on the event itself, please click here.) PLEASE DELIVER YOUR CAKE(S) to the OLD Larson middle school commons, 1240 Oakland Av, any time after 3pm on Friday. Look for the "cake table" and someone will take your cakes. Homemade or store-bought cakes are fine!
  3. CAKE WALK DECORATED CAKES: If you (or someone you know) would like to enter the decorated cake competition, those cakes should also be dropped off at the OLD Larson Middle School commons any time after 3pm on Friday. Prizes will be awarded for Most Bobcat Spirit, Most Creative, and Most Musical. (PLEASE MARK THE CAKE BOX OR CARRIER with an indication that the cake is intended for the decorating competition, so we don't inadvertently give it away during the event.)
  4. GHHS STUDENT COMMUNITY SERVICE OPPORTUNITY: Finally, just a quick call for High School student volunteers to assist with the Bobcat Boosters' mulch delivery operation on Saturday April 9. Students who are able to help should meet at 7:30am in the parking lot behind 815 Grandview Ave, and can expect to be done by noon or earlier. Wear clothes to get dirty in, and bring gardening or work gloves if you have them. The Bobcat Boosters provide support for many MANY student teams, events, and activities across all schools and age levels in Grandview - and in particular they provided a significant donation to help make 2021 Band Camp possible for our GHHS Marching Band students. Volunteering a little time on Saturday to help them with this significant fundraiser is a terrific way to say "thank you" for that much-needed support. PLEASE ENCOURAGE YOUR STUDENT TO HELP IF THEY CAN.
