Good morning, Grandview Band families! Here's what's new this week....
CAKE WEEK THANKS: Although we are still working on a final accounting, we
are able to share that last week's CAKE WEEK activities have already raised more than $2000 in support of the Grandview Heights Band programs. We are grateful to everyone who participated in the fun and fundraising - thank you, thank you, thank you! We would also be remiss if we did not acknowledge the tireless efforts of Dot Keil, the CAKE WEEK mastermind, who pretty much organized the whole thing single-handedly - thanks, Dot!
HIGH SCHOOL BAND CONCERT: Assuming the weather cooperates, the GHHS Marching Band and Jazz Ensemble will perform live and in person in the GHHS football stadium, this Wednesday, May 5, at 7pm. (An earlier message contained in incorrect date.) Details regarding concert dress and report times will be coming from Mr. Herrmann soon. We will also recognize the 2021 GHHS Band seniors, and draw the names of several lucky cake raffle winners (winners will be posted on the CAKE WEEK Facebook page and the band web site). It will be a big night for the Bands, so please do your NO-rain-dance to help out!
NOTE TO 8TH GRADE FAMILIES: if you have an 8th grader planning to continue with the band program next year, please visit the band web siteto begin to familiarize yourself with summer schedule and pre-school year activities. Although we can't say with certainty what "Band Camp" and the other events will look like just yet (and we continue to be grateful for your patience and flexibility), we are hopeful that we'll be able to provide sometype of pre-camp and camp experience for the 2021-22 edition of the Pride of Grandview Heights. Mr. Herrmann has update the band calendar, available here, and you can check out Bobcat Bands 101 here to get a sense of what a "normal" summer and fall looks like of a GHHS band family. Please mark your own family calendars, and as always, please be prepared to pitch in and help out when the time comes!
STILL NEED HELP: speaking of pitching in and helping out - we still need to fill some GHBPA offices and committee chairs for next year. Details of the various roles are available here, or you can reply to this email with questions. PLEASE NOTE: you do not have to have a GHHS band student to serve on the board or as a committee chair! The GHBPA supports all levels of band students, and we definitely welcome the support and participation of middle school Bobcat band parents too!
