BAND PARENTS' UPDATE

Greetings Grandview music families! We have a NUMBER of volunteer opportunities that we are needing some assistance with, for MIDDLE SCHOOL as well as high school

parents. Please read on and consider raising your hand to help if you can. 

1. IMPORTANT NOTE TO EIGHTH GRADE BAND FAMILIES: As you may know, your student will be marching on the field with the GHHS Marching Band on Friday Sept 16, which means we need to get your students outfitted a little more quickly than the rest of the middle school band members. PLEASE CLICK HERE ASAP tor order your student's navy blue GH Bands logo polo shirt. The cost is $17 per shirt. IF YOU ALREADY HAVE A SHIRT, PLEASE SUBMIT THE FORM ANYWAY.(There will be no cost to you, but this is how we ensure that all students have a shirt to wear.) Your student will wear this shirt for all concert performances throughout the year as well as the marching performance on Sept 16. ALL FORMS ARE DUE TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 6. 
2. MIDDLE SCHOOL SHIRTS: We are looking for one or two middle school parents to coordinate the effort to take orders and distribute shirts to our remaining middle school instrumentalists. PLEASE NOTE that the process is entirely electronic (we'll build an online order form and collect payment via paypal), so there's no need to shuffle papers OR collect funds. This person(s) will simply coordinate the final bulk order to the vendor, communicate with individual parents about questions and payment, receive and organize the shirts for distribution, and deliver them to the directors at school to give to the students. 3. HIGH SCHOOL UNIFORMS: We STILL need a high school parent (or two) to assume responsibility for the formal uniforms. The BEST news is, a LOT of the heavy lifting on this job is already done for this year (and props to our BPA president Dot Keil, who did a LOT of it). But we do still need someone to organize the hats which are part of our formal uniforms (students have been fitted but the hats are not yet assigned) and ensure they are placed on the hanger with the corresponding uniform. This person would also help to coordinate and instruct the parent volunteers who are signing up to check uniforms in and out when our students start wearing them later in the season. This is an EXTREMELY important role that we REALLY need to fill - and not just because we need to give Dot a break (although we definitely do). 4. FOOTBALL FRIDAY NIGHT: In addition to the fabulous opportunities outlined above, we do still have a few vacancies on our Friday night volunteers signupgenius - including a handful for THIS WEEK, FRIDAY SEPT 2. You can find the signup by clicking here - please visit it and add your name wherever and whenever you can!
5. BAND PARENTS MEETUP: You may have seen on Facebook that we held an impromptu social event last week, as several of us met for a post-game drink and conversation at a local establishment on Friday after the football game. It was super fun and we are hoping to make it a regular thing! You need not have a high school marching band member to participate - ALL band parents are welcome.
