BAND PARENTS' UPDATE

Good morning, Band families! Hope your campers have caught up on their sleep and are ready to hit the ground running as we head into summer's home stretch!

1. FALCO PARK VOLUNTEERS: now that Band Camp and Decal Drive are behind us, the Falco Park concert is the "next big thing" for parent volunteers. The official kickoff of the GHHS Marching Band season will happen this year on Sunday Aug 11 at 7pm at Falco Park in Marble Cliff. Several parent volunteers are need to help load and unload the equipment truck and set up and tear down the concert space. Please visit the signupgenius today to help us out.
2. DECAL DRIVE: thanks to our many, MANY parent volunteers as well as the hard work and charming personalities of our HS band students, this year's Decal Drive was another rousing success! It will take us a few days to provide an official tally, but in the meantime please know that if you have a neighbor, grandparent, or other friend or family member who wants to support the Decal Drive, it is not too late! Just direct them to the Band web site, where they can click the "donate" button near the top of the home page to provide their financial support to the effort. We can certainly also get them a decal if they want - just let Janna Thompson-Chordas or Dot Keil know. Also wanted to remind everyone that business sponorships are still available. Please contact Jessica Walli if you own a business, or know of a business, that would like to help support our GH bands through a sponsorship. 
3. CONCESSIONS AND FALL VOLUNTEERING: just a reminder that the NEXT next big thing that requires oodles of parental support will be staffing the concession stands for all home Bobcat football games. More than 30 parents are necessary for each game, in roughly two-hour shifts. This is a significant fundraising source for the Band Parents Association (and also a crucial responsibility to make sure thousands of Bobcat football fans don't go hungry!). Don't fancy grilling burgers or popping popcorn? Not to worry! Additional volunteers are needed to help distribute and check-in uniforms, hang and unhang senior banners, and other miscellaneous activities for each game. There's plenty of work for everyone, so please plan to sign up for several volunteer slots throughout the season. Signupgenius coming soon, watch this space!
4. EVENING REHEARSALS: just a reminder that your student has evening rehearsals on Tuesdays and Thursdays for the next two weeks. These are required for all GHHS Marching Band members unless excused by Mr. Herrmann. Find a link to the form for reporting absences here on the Band web site.  
5. BAND CAMP: finally, one final but sincere THANK YOU to all of the parents who pitched in to help make Band Camp a huge success last week. We truly could not do it without you. We're also very grateful to Bridget Kahle and Cheri Berlin for leading the charge, and to Michele Leach for once again donating her time and talents to take group and row pictures of our students (photos available on our group Facebook page - details below, join us there if you haven't already). Thanks to all who had a hand in another successful camp week for our kids!
