BAND PARENTS UPDATE

Hello, Grandview Band families. The Band Parents Association wanted to provide you with a couple of quick updates during these very unusual times. 

1. CANCELLATIONS: as you are no doubt aware, the School District has determined that all school-sponsored events will be canceled through at least April 6 in an effort to help stem the spread of coronavirus. For the Band programs, that includes the High School Concert Band concert (Tue 3/17), the March Band Parents Association meeting (Wed 3/18), the Jazz Ensemble concert (Thu 3/19), and the Cake Walk (Friday 4/3). This list could of course grow longer, so please stay attuned to announcements from the District, and remember you can always check the Band web siteor Facebook page for updates.  
2. FINANCIAL SUPPORT: the Cake Walk is a significant fundraiser for the Band Parents Association, and many of you have already asked how you can help provide financial support to make up for its loss. HUGE THANK YOU! It's truly heartwarming to be a part of a community that so quickly jumps to provide assistance in trying times. When the BPA Board has the opportunity to regroup and discuss any new plans or strategies, we will be sure to let you know. In the meantime please know that there is a "Donate" button on the front page of our web site, and we always welcome your financial contributions, in any amount.
3. MUSIC: finally, since we are all families with an interest in our music program, just a reminder that although many things are off limits for us over the coming weeks, music is not one of them. Many of you may have already seen the videos from Italy, showing Italian citizens (and in many cases their dogs!) singing songs together from their windows and balconies while they remain in quarantine, but if not, check it out. It's a great reminder of the power of music to unite us all and soothe our souls in times of great difficulty.
