Band Parents' update

Good morning GH music families! A HUGE thank you goes out to each and every one of you who volunteered for, participated in, baked cakes for, or otherwise helped us pull

off the 2023 cake walk fundraising event this past Friday. We truly couldn't have done it without you!

1. PRELIMINARY CAKE WALK NUMBERS: Although there are still some expenses to pay and a few silent auction payments to gather, we have had a preliminary look at the fundraising numbers from the 2023 cake walk, and they are TERRIFIC. We are estimating over $7000 in funds raised when all is said and done, which is a good $1000 more than we raised last year! We are so grateful to everyone who helped make this a reality, especially our tireless co-chairs Kate Lobley and Catt Dimes. (And, of course, we are also SO excited about all the great things we will be able to do for our students with that impressive fundraising haul!) Watch our facebook page and web site this week for photos and thank you's as we continue to tie a bow around this year's spectacularly successful event. 
2. CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS: In the midst of the cake walk whirlwind last week, the GHBPA also announced that 2023 GHHS seniors Alayna Lee and Aylish O'Harra were selected as recipients of $1000 Band Parents Association Scholarships, in recognition of their positive contributions to the GH instrumental music programs. Alayna was also selected as the winner of the $500 Mary Jo Gaskalla/BPA Scholarship, which is awarded to a senior who intends to study or participate in music programs at the college level. Congrats to both of them!

   CONCERTS! We get back to our whole reason for being this week, as the GH Orchestra students will take the stage on Tuesday evening for their final concert of the 2022-23 school year. The performance kicks off at 7pm in the GHHS auditorium, and you can take a sneak peek at the concert program by clicking here. We will also recognize and celebrate the four outgoing orchestra seniors at this event! Our other performing groups will give their final concerts next week, with the middle school bands on Wednesday and the GHHS jazz ensemble and concert bands on Thursday. Mark your calendars now!
4. BAND PARENTS MEETING: Remember how I said we are excited to spend all those dollars we raised, planning great activities for our students? You can help! Our next GH Band Parents meeting is this Thursday, April 20, at 6:30pm in the GHHS Band Room. Please join us - we would love to see you there!
