BAND PARENTs' UPDATE WELCOME ORCHESTRA FAMILIES!

Hello! If you are receiving this message, we understand you to have a student in the Grandview Heights Orchestra program. And we have exciting news to share for the

new year!

The Grandview Heights Band Parents Association was created years ago to provide support to the  instrumental musical programs in the Grandview Heights Schools. For reasons unknown to the current GHBPA Board members, however, GHBPA has never "adopted" and supported the orchestra programs. 2022 is the year we fix this oversight, so welcome to the GHBPA family!

Your orchestra program director Thomas Stanley is already active with the GHBPA, and has been regularly attending meetings and providing input in our activities since he started teaching at GH. We know he will be a good resource as we learn about the orchestra programs and figure out ways that we can support these students, but we wanted to let you know that we welcome your input too! Please feel free to attend our monthly meetings (the next one is is Wed Feb 16, at 6:30pm in the NEW Larson MS media center), or reach out to any of our current officers, to learn more about what we do, and to share with us your ideas about what we can do for your students. We look forward to getting to know and your students better!

Here are some resources for how you can get to know us as well (they are, naturally, a bit concert-jazz-marching-band-centric right now, please bear with us as we work to incorporate the orchestra program into our existing communication resources):

• The GHBPA maintains the Grandview Heights Bands web site, available here;
• Bobcat Bands 101, available here, is a school year chronology of typical band program activities (into which we look forward to incorporating the orchestra!);
• the Communications page, available here, includes copies of all email communications from GHBPA and the band directors, tagged by category and organized by date;
• GHBPA maintains a private Facebook group (search GHBandParents and ask to join) where we share pictures, announcements, reminders, and realtime updates; and
• we regularly use email blasts like this one to update families on program events, volunteer opportunities, etc.
