BAND DIRECTOR'S UPDATE

7/24/2021

Band Camp 2021 is only 1 day away!!!  We are very excited to continue our hard work and preparations for the upcoming season.  Our goals are to chart Shows 1, 2, and 3 as
well as Pregame; plus beginning the memorization process for all 2021 music.  Pre-Camp has shown the staff and students what they are capable of achieving and I have no doubt we will continue all the way until the end of October.
Below are a few last minute items regarding Band Camp.  Please read carefully.
PACKING LIST
Students (and parents) should consult the Band Camp Packing List on page 5 of the Band Camp Newsletter.  https://www.grandviewhtsband.org/uploads/3/7/0/9/370912/2021_band_camp_newsletter_.pdf  Don’t forget your sunscreen, insect spray, and water bottle!

NEW ASSISTANT MARCHING BAND DIRECTOR
Please help me welcome Mr. Thomas Stanley to the Grandview Heights band family.  Mr. Stanley is a 2016 graduate of Grandview Heights HS and 2020 graduate of Miami University.  He will serve as our Director of Orchestras and assist Mr. Heath and I during the school day with high school band (marching and concert).  We are very lucky to have him with us!

STUDENT MEDICATIONS
Must be in original containers with student's prescription information.  Bring to camp check-in in a Ziploc bag; be sure to label the bag with your student’s name.

CAMP CHECK-IN: SUNDAY, JULY 25, 2021
All luggage, backpacks and musical cases will be searched when students check in for band camp. If any illegal substances are found, the police will be called and the camper will face a students’ code of conduct violation.
The student handbook rules and regulations will be followed, and all mishaps at camp will be reported to Mr. Brown, the High School Principal.
Be reminded that band camp is an extension of the high school class. Students are expected to behave accordingly. In order to effectively search the luggage and load the truck properly, the campers should arrive at the following times:
12:15PM Percussion & Tuba Instrument Load In Only (Students may leave until report time.)
12:30PM Freshman
1:00PM Sophomores and Juniors
1:30PM Seniors

Due to facilities work during the summer; check-in will start at the LMS Commons door off the Oakland parking lot.
The buses will leave at 2:00PM. Lunch is not provided, so students should eat prior to their arrival or bring a lunch.  They will not be permitted to leave after check-in.
