BAND DIRECTOR'S UPDATE

The Marching Band will travel to The Fortress Obetz to perform for the Grandview v Bishop Ready Game this Friday.  The address for the complex is: 2015 Recreation Trl,

Obetz, OH 43207.  We will perform the Senior Show one more time on the road before bringing it home next Friday.  We also hope to see you at two upcoming concerts/performances by the Jazz Ensemble and Marching Band.  See details below!

Jazz Ensemble “Adventures in Standards” Concert - Wednesday, October 20 - 7:00PM - New LMS Commons
The 2021-2022 Jazz Ensemble will open its performance season with the “Adventures in Standards” concert next Wednesday, October 19th at 7:00PM.  Taking inspiration from the famous Stan Kenton album from 1961, this concert will feature repertoire from ‘The Great American Songbook’ and jazz standards.  The concert is free and open to the public.

Marching Band Season-in-Review - Thursday, October 28 - 7:00PM
Our Annual Marching Band Season-in-Review is just over a two weeks away!  This event showcases our traditional pre-game show and all three half-time shows.  Should Mother Nature not cooperate; we have booked a weather location in the HS Gymnasium.  All family and friends are welcome and HIGHLY encouraged to attend this special event.

Traditional Uniform - Reminder
The band will transition to its ‘traditional’ or ‘formal’ uniform this week.  There are several components to the uniform:

• Jacket
• Trousers/Pants
• Row Shirt
• White Marching Shoes
• White Gloves (except percussion)
• Long White Socks
• Hat

Traditional Uniform - Policies and Procedures - Reminder

• All uniform parts listed above are required - students who do not pass inspection will not march at halftime.  Parents - please make sure your student has all items before leaving the house - especially LONG white socks, gloves (if needed) and their Row Shirt.
• All members must be ‘fully dressed’ unless instructed otherwise by the director(s).  This includes jackets fully zipped, hats on, etc.
• Accommodations will be made in extreme temperature situations.  Example - students will be instructed to remove their band jacket and fold to sit on top of their band hat.
• Uniforms (jacket, pants, hats, parkas) are checked out and checked back in before/after each use.  Students are required to rehang all items and turn in all items before they are dismissed.
• An additional time marker has been added below (Band Room Opens) - students must be dressed and in their seats by Call/Dress time.  Please plan accordingly.
• Any staining of the uniform during the marching band season will be the financial responsibility of the student.  They are required to have the uniform part dry cleaned before the next performance.  Uniforms can only be dry cleaned; no exceptions.
