BAND DIRECTOR'S UPDATE

Great win for the Bobcats and a great performance by the GHMB at halftime!!!  We’re looking forward to taking the “Super Sounds of the 70s” show on the road this Friday.  ​

Ox Roast Pit Lighting - Friday, September 8
Just a quick courtesy reminder for next Friday, September 8th.  The band will perform after the game for the Pit Lighting at the Ox Roast.  All band members will be responsible for reporting to the Robert Louis Stevenson Elementary parking lot at a pre-determined time following the game.  More information will be released next Tuesday.

Flip Folders
Each band member received a flip folder from the band at the beginning of their freshman year.  The flip folder allows your student to conveniently keep their music organized and transport it easily.

If your student has misplaced their flip, it is their responsibility to replace it.  Flip folders are available from Stanton’s Sheet Music (330 South Fourth St), Music & Arts (Graceland Shopping Center), Buckeye Brass (7445 Montgomery Dr, Plain City), or online.  Flip folders come standard with 5 ‘windows.’  It is recommended you purchase extra windows to accommodate all the music distributed.  

Music/Flip Folders will be checked weekly and is calculated into your student’s grade.  If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know.

Wednesday/Thursday Night Rehearsals
Per the list above, there are four remaining Wednesday or Thursday Night Rehearsals for this season and that number will not increase.  All four remaining rehearsals are considered required and will be calculated into your grade.  Exceptions to the requirement are (1) for athletes who have traveling matches which return later than 9:00PM on the dates listed above, or, (2) on a case-by-case basis as needed.  Work and non-Grandview Heights activities should be scheduled around Evening Rehearsals; please submit the dates above to your work management or advisors.  

No Night Rehearsal This Week.  Our next night rehearsal is Thursday, September 7th, 8:00-10:00PM 

Summer Uniform
The band will be performing in their Summer uniform for the first two games.  Consistency from student to student is very important.  All students are expected to follow these guidelines:

• All members will wear their white band polo, blue band shorts, short white socks, and white marching shoes.
• Members with long hair will have their hair up in a pony tail and/or french braid.
• Undershirts and/or tank tops should be white - avoid contrast colors or graphic prints.
