BAND DIRECTOR'S UPDATE

To all;
Our goal is to provide enriching musical experiences for every student

5th through 12th grade.  Some students may consider extending their musical experiences beyond Grandview.  In fact, several students have and continue to represent Grandview Heights Bands throughout the state.  If you are interested, please consider the following opportunities:

Capital University Band Festival - November 16-17, 2018
The Capital University Band Festival will be held on Capital's campus on Friday through Saturday, November 16-17 2018.  This a fantastic opportunity for any member of our band to perform on their primary concert band instrument with some of the finest high school musicians from Ohio and surrounding states. Up to eight students from each high school can be nominated and participants are selected on a need-basis.  Nominations are due October 5, confirmations will be sent October 12.  Please check your calendars!
Schedule Note: Students would need to submit a Planned Absence form for Friday, Nov. 16th.  They would miss the entire day of school.

Registration is $65 for participants and will include all meals.  Housing is optional but would not be necessary since we are so close.  Additional details can be found at: http://capital.edu/bandfest/

The nomination deadline is next Friday, October 5; but I will set our deadline to Wednesday, October 3th so I can submit as early as possible.


Ohio State University High School Honor Band Weekend - January 18-20, 2019
The Ohio State University High School Honor Band Weekend will be held on OSU’s main campus on Friday through Sunday, January 18-20, 2018.  This a fantastic opportunity for any member of our band to perform on their primary concert band instrument with some of the finest high school musicians from Ohio and surrounding states. Up to eighteen students from each high school can be nominated and participants are selected on a need-basis.  Nominations are due November 2, confirmations will be sent November 9.  Please check your calendars!

Registration is $95 for commuter participants and will include all meals.  Additional details can be found at: https://music.osu.edu/outreach/hs-honor-band

Schedule Note: Students would need to submit a Planned Absence form for the afternoon of Friday, Jan. 18th.  They are required to report to OSU campus by 2:00PM.
