BAND DIRECTOR'S UPDATE

Any/all GHHS band members are strongly encouraged to take part in the Ohio Music

Education Association High School Solo & Ensemble Adjudicated Event on Saturday, January 27th.  Students register to perform an accompanied solo (on their instrument) or, in an ensemble with other students.  One special note: college/university admissions love to see well-rounded candidates - adding an OMEA Solo & Ensemble rating is a great way to diversify as well as show outstanding achievement on your application.

They prepare a selection of music (and scales for soloists); perform for an adjudicator; and finally, receive a rating (or comments).  Several students have already inquired about the opportunity.

The registration deadline is fast approaching (Tuesday, Dec. 19th), so students will have the opportunity to read music in the coming days and begin the registration process.  If your student is interested, please contact me by this Friday, Dec. 15 so we can select music and plan accordingly.  

I will send a separate email to parents/students, who have expressed interest, regarding what steps are ahead.
