BAND DIRECTOR'S UPDATE

Deadline extended for Student Permission Forms - New Date - Friday, February 22
To all

Dr. David Hedgecoth (Assistant Professor of Music Education) and Joe Carver (candidate for PhD in Music Education) from The Ohio State University have requested our collective participation in "a survey study to investigate the educational outcomes of high school marching band.  The purpose of this research is to gain deep insight into the perspectives of band directors, band students, and band parents on the benefits of high school marching band within the high school experience."  Mr. Andy Culp, Superintendent of Grandview Heights Schools, approved their request for contact in December.  

My responsibility is to forward a contact letter from Mr. Carver and request that all parent permission forms (for student participation) be submitted by FRIDAY FEBRUARY 22.  You can print and complete the form at home or copies will be available here for students to bring home for completion. You and your student are highly encouraged to participate in the study but are not required in any way.

The Ohio State University School of Music has served as our partner in music education for many years.  I'm hopeful we can support their endeavors to contribute important research to music education.

Greetings, Band Parents!

As part of my degree completion at Ohio State, I am working on a research project on the benefits of high school marching band. I would love your help by taking this short survey about your student's marching band participation. Any/all parents or guardians are welcome to take the survey. This includes two steps: 

1: You take the survey using this link: https://osu.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_6tJ39fVHAJor5Wt

2: Your consent for your student to take a similar survey in the coming weeks. Attached is a permission form. If you are ok with your student taking a similar survey to the one above, please sign it and return it to your student's band director. Once the permission forms are turned in your student will take the short survey during school.
