BAND DIRECTORS' UPDATE - MIDDLE SCHOOL BANDS

To all;
Welcome EILMS band parents to the 2018-2019 school year!  We have already begun

working towards our performance goals for the year.   Please know that all EILLMS band parents will receive periodic email updates from Mr. Heath or myself throughout the year.  If you have a student in the high school band, the middle school band updates will not be as frequent and will likely precede performances or major events.

2018-2019 Concerts and Performances
Below is a list of band performances for the 2018-19 school year.  If you have a student in other EILMS bands, you’ll notice some small differences due to grade level commitments.  Please mark your calendars accordingly

• 8th Grade Band Night - Friday, September 28 - Bobcat Stadium
  • 8th Grade Band Performs with the Grandview Heights HS Marching Band
• EILMS Bands Fall Concert - Wednesday, November 14th - GHHS Auditorium
  • 5th & 6th Grade Bands - 6:00PM Concert (report at 5:45PM)
  • 7th & 8th Grade Bands - 7:00PM Concert (report at 6:45PM)
• EILMS Bands Music in our Schools Month Concert - Wednesday, March 13th - GHHS Auditorium
  • 5th & 6th Grade Bands - 6:00PM Concert (report at 5:45PM)
  • 7th & 8th Grade Bands - 7:00PM Concert (report at 6:45PM)
• Cakewalk - Friday, April 5th - 6:30-8:00PM - GHHS Gym
  • 7th & 8th Grade Bands Perform, all EILMS band students donate cake for Cakewalk
• EILMS Bands Spring Concert - Thursday, May 2nd - GHHS Auditorium

EILMS Band Polos - Order Form
8th grade band members should check their Blue band polos to make sure they fit or need replacement.  They will use them on Friday, September 28 when they perform with the high school marching band.  To ensure new polos arrive in time for the performance, all orders are due Friday, August 31st.  Please print the attached order form and remit payment using the information provided on the form.  If you have any questions, please contact Elizabeth Watters, Uniform Parts Coordinator at [email protected].

Secondary Instruments (6th-8th Bands only)
Music for middle school bands (6-8 grades) requires a diverse instrumentation.  This includes oboe, bass clarinet, tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone, french horn, baritone, and tuba.  Some students in grades 6-8 have already moved to secondary instruments while others are interested in making the switch.  Students are to express interest to the directors (Mr. Heath or Mr. Herrmann), then we will open a dialogue between student, parents, and directors about possible options for your student.
