BAND DIRECTOR'S UPDATE

7/21/2017

Band Camp 2017 is only 2 days away!!!  We are very excited to continue our hard work
and preparations for the upcoming season.  Our goals are to chart Shows 1, 2, and 5 as well as Pregame; plus beginning the memorization process for all 2017 music.  Pre-Camp has shown the staff and students what they are capable of achieving and I have no doubt we will continue all the way until the end of October.

Below are a few last minute items regarding Band Camp.  Please read carefully.

NEW ASSISTANT MARCHING BAND DIRECTOR
Please help me welcome Mr. Scott Warburton to the Grandview Heights band family.  Mr. Warburton has an extensive background in performance and recently (2015) completed his teaching certification in music.  He will serve as our Director of Orchestras at EILMS and assist Mr. Heath and I during the school day with marching band.  We are very lucky to have him with us!

STUDENT MEDICATIONS
Must be in original containers with student's prescription information.=
Bring to camp check-in in a Ziploc bag; be sure to label the bag with=
your student's name.

MALE CHAPERONES
We are in need of three male chaperones to complete our list for Band Camp.   Please consider volunteering your time to support the band.  Follow this link to sign up: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090f4baea62cab9-grandview2  or contact Stacey Bergmann by email - [email protected]m.

CAMP CHECK-IN: SUNDAY, JULY 23, 2017
All luggage, backpacks and musical cases will be searched when students check in for band camp. If any illegal substances are found, the police will be called and the camper will face a students' code of conduct violation.

The student handbook rules and regulations will be followed, and all mishaps at camp will be reported to Mr. Chaffin, the High School Principal.

Be reminded that band camp is an extension of the high school class. Students are expected to behave accordingly. In order to effectively search the luggage and load the truck properly, the campers should arrive at the following times:

11:45AM    Percussion & Tuba Instrument Load In Only (Students may leave until their report time.)
12:00PM        Freshman
12:30PM        Sophomores
1:00PM         Juniors
1:30PM        Seniors

Due to facilities work during the summer; check-in will start at the northwest GHHS door off the Oakland parking lot (Richards/Meister door).

The buses will leave at 2:00PM. Lunch is not provided, so students should eat prior to their arrival.

NOTE: Boys Soccer involved with the EIS Tournament this weekend - you will receive separate instructions in a email to follow.
