Band camp? What's that?
Each summer in late July, the Grandview Heights HS Marching Band travels to a nearby college campus for an amazing week of music, marching, fun, and friendship. We work hard, play hard and learn so much!
The 2020 edition of GHHS Marching Band Camp will be at Wittenberg University, in Springfield, Ohio, from July 26 through 31. Daily rehearsals will begin the week before, at the high school. Check back here for more details or watch your in box.
NEED HELP PREPARING FOR BAND CAMP?
The 2020 Band Camp Newsletter will be available in April, and will have a handy Packing List for you and your student to refer to. While you're reading the Newsletter, you might also want to stop by and review Camp Rules and Expectations with your student. Lots of other helpful camp info contained within those pages as well. Watch for it, coming soon.
CHAPERONING AT BAND CAMP?
First of all, thank you SO MUCH. We literally could not have Band Camp without the many, many parents who volunteer their time in support, most especially those who come spend the night in the dorms each night.
If you are serving as one of the overnight chaperones, all the information that you need about where, when, what, and why you are needed will be available before Band Camp week. Please note you will also need to complete the GH Schools background check if you do not have a current one on file. You can visit here for more information and ensure you are up to date.
Band Camp FormS
The Band Camp Newsletter and camp forms will be available on the "Documents" page of this web site in April. Please print, complete and submit camp paperwork and payment by June 26, 2020. They may be dropped off in the GHHS office, or mailed to the Band Parents Association, P.O. Box 12580, Columbus, Ohio, 43212. Online payments will also be accepted beginning in April - paperwork will still need to be dropped off or mailed.
LOTS OF VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
Parents and other adult family members are DESPERATELY needed for many volunteer roles during band camp. Please visit the signupgenius when it becomes available, and volunteer your time as much as you can.
Band Camp Payment
The Band Parents Association strives to keep individual student's costs for band camp as low as possible. Camp costs include meals, lodging, transportation, recreational activities, and instruction for five days and nights of camp. The Band Parents Association subsidizes a portion of that cost through our fundraising efforts.
The camp fees for 2020 are as follows:
$250 for your first student
$225 for your second student in the same family
$500 CAP for families with three or more students
Online payment will also be available beginning in April - check back here for more details. Checks should be payable to the Grandview Heights Band Parents Association, and may be dropped off in the GHHS office, or mailed to the Band Parents Association, P.O. Box 12580, Columbus, Ohio, 43212. Please note your student’s name and “Band Camp 2020” in the memo line.
