Band camp? What's that?
Each summer in late July, the Grandview Heights HS Marching Band travels to a nearby college campus for an amazing week of music, marching, fun, and friendship. We work hard, play hard and learn so much!
The 2022 edition of GHHS Marching Band Camp will be held at Otterbein University from July 24 through July 29, 2022. Daily rehearsals will begin the week before, at the high school. CHAPERONING AT BAND CAMP?
First of all, thank you SO MUCH. We literally could not have Band Camp without the many, many parents who volunteer their time in support, most especially those who come spend the night in the dorms each night.
Please note you will also need to complete the GH Schools background check if you do not have a current one on file. You can visit here for more information and ensure you are up to date.
NEED HELP PREPARING FOR BAND CAMP?
The Band Camp Newsletter has a handy Packing List for you and your student to refer to. While you're reading the Newsletter, you might also want to stop by and review Camp Rules and Expectations with your student. Lots of other helpful Band Camp info will be contained within those pages as well. We've also prepared some tips for a smooth check-in experience, which you can read by clicking here.
BRINGING MEDICATION TO CAMP?
Click here for the medication form that is required for ALL prescription AND over-the-counter medications (except pain reliever and antacid). Please print out and complete a copy of this form for each medication that your student may need while at Band Camp. You and your student's physician must each sign the form.
Completed forms, and the medications in their original packaging, should be delivered to the Camp Nurse when your student checks in for Camp on Sunday July 24. The Nurse will hold and administer all medication while the students are at Otterbein.
Band Camp Payment
The Band Parents Association strives to keep individual student's costs for Band Camp as low as possible. Camp costs include meals, lodging, transportation, recreational activities, facilities fees, and nurse and instructor stipends for five days and nights of camp. The Band Parents Association subsidizes a significant portion of that cost through our fundraising efforts.
This year's cost to families will be $275 per student, and $250 for the second student from the same family. Families with three or more students will pay a total fee of $550. Payments can be made online by clicking here, and all payments are due by June 30.
