GHHS MARCHING BAND SUMMER UPDATES from the GH BAND & ORCHESTRA BOOSTERS | Week of June 15, 2026
We appreciate the patience of our freshmen families, who still are not able to access our Parentsquare group. Until all families have full access, all posts in this group will also be cross-posted to our web site (on the “Summer 2026 Marching Band Info” page, click here to find it). Please note that another great resource for incoming families is the “GHBOB 101” tab on our web site which you can find by clicking here. Even if you have been involved in middle school band, the pace and details of HS marching band season can be a lot to manage, and we have tried to summarize the basics for you there. __________________________ TODAY IS THE DAY! Band Camp registration and payment are due TODAY (MONDAY JUNE 15). Please contact us asap at the email address below if you need additional time. Click here for the Band Camp page on our web site, where you can get answers to most of your questions Click here for the 2026 Band Camp registration form Click here for the 2026 Band Camp payment form PLEASE NOTE we ask ALL members to complete the registration form, even if not attending camp. It is used to gather shirt size for row shirts, which all students receive, and also gathers dietary and allergy info that we use for meal and event planning throughout the year. And – most importantly – it’s how we gather accurate head count information for Band Camp! FORMS AND PAYMENT ARE DUE TODAY. PLEASE ACT NOW! __________________________ VOLUNTEERING AND BACKGROUND CHECKS: Many of you have been checking the “yes” box when we ask if you are interested in being contacted about volunteering – great news, your first chance is coming soon! We need quite a few parent volunteers to make Band Camp happen each year (you can click here to read more about it), and the signup for that will be coming soon. In the meantime, it wouldn’t hurt to ensure your background check with the district is up to date, which you can check by clicking here. __________________________ SUMMER UNIFORM UPDATE: Polo shirts and shorts for all freshmen and any 10-12 grader who asked for a new size have been ordered and (we hope) should arrive in time for our first performance in August. All freshman will be sized for shoes and gloves at Band Camp check-in, and those orders will be placed shortly thereafter. (Freshmen MUST buy shoes unless they have good condition hand-me-downs, students in other grades MAY order shoes as needed). AFTER all orders have been placed we will collect payment for all of these items. Please direct any other questions to summer uniforms chair Laura Swisher ([email protected]). GHBOB 101 also has a good summary of the uniform pieces and family responsibility. __________________________ SQUAD LEADER PROJECT: Please remind squad leaders (if you have one in your home) that all postcards are due back to the Rutters’ house (1179 Broadview Ave) by June 22– and a BIG shout out to squad leader team of Max McCollough, Rose Ritzman, Kline Donovsky, Mary Herlihy, and Sofina Sochor who were the first group to have theirs completed and returned. GHBOB is grateful to you!

GHHS MARCHING BAND SUMMER UPDATES from the GH BAND & ORCHESTRA BOOSTERS | Week of June 1, 2026
HelloMarching Band families! This is a Parentsquare group we have created specifically for Summer 2026 communications with GHHS Marching Band families. If you are in it, it means we understand you to have at least one (and maybe more!) student planning to participate in GHHS Marching Band this fall. Parentsquare is our primary means of communication, even during the summer, so please make sure you keep an eye on it. And in the meantime please read on for some important summer updates from GHBOB! __________________________ BAND CAMP REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT: If you havenot yet visited the Band Camp pages of our web site – now is the time! It has all the details you need about the pre-camp and Band Camp schedule, preparing for camp, and registration and payment forms. Note that all forms and payment are due by June 15, which will be here before you know it. So don’t wait! Click here for the Band Camp page of our web site, or click here to go straight to the camp registration form, and click here to go directly to the payment form. We hope that everything you need to know is covered on the web site, but if you still have questions please feel free to reach out to GHBOB at the email address below. __________________________ SUMMER UNIFORM ORDERING: If you are new to GHHS band, you may not yet know that your student will have two different band uniforms. The summer uniform is typically worn for August and early September performances, as well as the May performances at the end of the school year. It consists of a logo’ed shirt and athletic shorts as well as SHORT white athletic socks (which you supply) and white marching shoes. The shirt, shorts, and shoes are ordered through GHBOB to ensure uniformity, and all incoming freshmen are required to purchase all three items, unless they already have hand-me-down marching shoes from a recent GHHS alum in good condition, or a hand-me-down uniform from 2025 only (we have switched to a new style of uniform so shirts/shorts older than that will not work). Mrs. Olis worked with the incoming freshmen to size them for these three items before school let out, so we will be placing this order very soon.
The second uniform your student will wear is the fall formal uniform that consists of marching pants, jacket, and hat which is worn for fall performances from mid-September through the end of football season. These items are owned by the school and your student will be assigned a uniform for use during the season. The same white marching shoes will be used with this uniform, with LONG white athletic socks (which you supply), and all students except percussionists wear white gloves which are ordered through GHBOB. To ensure they are prepared from the fall season, we order one pair of gloves for each incoming freshman, except for the percussionists. Gloves are also available for purchase during the season.
Two important notes:
If you have a freshman who does not need one or all of these items, please email Laura Swisher ([email protected]) by June 8 and let her know what item(s) you do NOT need GHBOB to order.
If you have a student in grades 10-12 who wishes to order new shirt, shorts, shoes, or pairs of gloves, now is their chance. Please email Laura Swisher ([email protected]) by June 8 and let her know what item(s) AND WHAT SIZE your student would like to order.
We do not have confirmed 2026 pricing for all items yet, but last year’s cost was $48 for shoes, $32 for the shirt, $26 for the shorts, and $4 per pair for gloves. We expect this year’s cost to be comparable and will supply exact cost along with payment instructions soon.
__________________________ SQUAD LEADER PROJECT: If you havea squad leader in your home they should by now already have heard from (or will soon be hearing from) one of their music section leaders about their postcard writing project. Please remind them that all postcards are due back to the Rutters’ house (1179 Broadview Ave) by June 22.
__________________________ MEET MR. PELPHREY! Finally, the GHBOB Band Camp team met with Mr. Pelphrey, Mrs. Olis, and Mr. Stanley recently to help get Mr. Pelphrey up to speed on Band Camp plans, and he is so excited to be joining us! GHBOB is working with Mr. Pelphrey to plan a “meet the new director” event for mid to late June, so stay turned for that – more details to come.
