GHBOB President Jennifer Kinsinger recently shared her thoughts and words of gratitude to all those who helped our high school students' Disney dreams come true: Now that I’ve had a chance to (mostly) catch up on sleep after a wonderful trip to Orlando with Grandview Heights’ band and orchestra, I want to take a moment to thank the many helpers that not only made it possible, but also made it a success.
Our Band Director, Jennifer Olis, and Assistant Band Director/Orchestra Director, Thomas Stanleyput in so much effort and their personal time, and we appreciate everything they do for these kids. The board members of this year and last year’s Grandview Heights Band & Orchestra Boosters, which includes Julie Rutter, Molly Schmied, Jay Carini, Natalie Glenn, and Dot Keil. The chaperones that gave up their time and sleep to make this trip possible and keep our kids safe, Dave Schmied, Katie Branum and Jeanne Bussell. [Editor's note, this also includes Jenn Kinsinger herself - thanks, Jenn!] Thank you to the parents who helped with some preparations ahead of time. Mona Barber, who helped secure some funding, Lisa Gladman, Bob Rutter and Dave Schmied, who helped get kids fitted into uniforms. Thank you to James Herlihy and Herlihy - Mayflower Moving & Storage for donating packing boxes and your help to safely get our uniforms to Orlando & back home. Year after year, we’ve gotten help and support from the Grandview Heights Marble Cliff Education Foundation and the Bobcat Boosters, and this year the Grandview Heights Neighborhood Bridges. We greatly appreciate just how well-behaved the kids were and how much they worked hard to do a good job and represent Grandview Heights in a positive light. Thank you to all parents who support your band and orchestra students. And one of the things that makes Grandview special, is how much teachers and coaches understood that these kids are multifaceted. Thank you to the teachers and coaches for being understanding of students’ absences when they need time to make music. And PLEASE, keep volunteering at the BobCake Bash and the concession stand, so we can make more opportunities like this happen! Click here for photos related to this post.
