GH MARCHING BAND: GHBOB UPDATE

7/18/2025

Hello GH Marching Band families! The students are wrapping up a great week of pre-camp rehearsals and are getting excited for Band Camp next week! Below are a few
quick notes, requests, and reminders as we all prepare for what comes next.
_______________________
CONCESSIONS COMMITTEE NEEDED: Our current concessions committee chair Bob Rutter is looking for….well, a committee! If you are interested in helping out with this important part of our GHBOB fundraising efforts, please contact Bob directly at [email protected].

OTHER VOLUNTEER NEEDS: We have two open volunteer roles for the coming year that we would really love to fill soon, including a co-chair for our Decal Drive event on August 17. Veteran chairperson Sara Carini will lead the event again this year but we are looking to develop a future leader to take the handoff. And we are still seeking a volunteer who can take charge of reserving equipment trucks and recruiting volunteer drivers for the 5-10 dates this season that the GH Marching Band will travel to away game sites. Do either of these jobs interest you? Want more information? Click here to email and let us know!

ATTENTION FRESHMEN FAMILIES: If time permits on Sunday we may begin fitting your students for their fall formal uniforms before the students head off to camp. It’s enormously helpful in this process if we have your student’s approximate height and weight in advance. These do not have to be exact measurements, but we use them as a starting point to select a potential uniform for your student. Please email it directly to uniform chair Lisa Gladman at [email protected].

PREPARING FOR CAMP: just a reminder that everything you need to know about getting ready for and coming to Band Camp is available on our web site by clicking here. You can click here for a handy packing list, and click here for the forms necessary to take medicine AT and/or bring medicine TO camp.  Click here for a pdf version of the campus map with important locations marked for your student, or you can click here for an interactive google map, or click here for an interactive apple map. Handy for chaperones as well!

AFTER CAMP: Finally…..life comes at you fast! The students of the marching band have several evening rehearsals between the end of Band Camp and the start of the school year (click here for the schedule). The students’ first official performance is on August 10 at Falco Park in Marble Cliff at 7:00pm, where they will give a free (non-marching) concert featuring many of the songs from the upcoming football season shows. GHBOB’s first big fundraiser of the year, the annual Decal Drive, is August 17. All students are required to participate and we will again ask for a lot of volunteer support, so please mark your family’s calendar now and plan to help us out.
