GH BAND & ORCHESTRA: BAND CAMP UPDATE

Greetings, Grandview Heights Marching Band families! GHHS Band Camp is now less than ONE MONTH away, if you can believe it! Below are a few important details and ​

reminders as we start preparing for camp. 

1. REGISTRATION & PAYMENT: We are still missing camp registration forms and payment from a few members - you should be receiving separate email reminders if your student is among them. You can click here for the registration form, and click here for the payment form. NOTE to multi-student families, EACH student needs their own registration form, but you can submit payment for both students via a single payment form. Financial assistance is available; please contact Mrs. Olis for details. DUE DATE: JUNE 30!
2. PLEASE HELP! Every year we need a handful of adult volunteers to help make Band Camp a success, including overnight chaperones to stay in the dorm at Otterbein each night, as well as a few volunteer jobs at GHHS on camp departure and return days. Please click here to visit the signupgenius and add your name if you can!    PRE-CAMP REHEARSALS: The week before the students head off to camp at Otterbein, there are daily rehearsals at the high school from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm. You can click here for full details on the schedule, but please note that the Monday July 15 rehearsal is for squad leaders and drumline only, Tuesday July 16 includes squad leaders, drumline, and all new members, and then Weds-Friday includes the full band each day. These rehearsals are required for all (even students who are not attending Band Camp) and any absences should be cleared through Mrs. Olis.

   GETTING READY FOR CAMP: Need help getting your student prepared? We got you covered! Most important, please remember that if your student needs to bring any medication to camp, you will need to bring a completed medication form for each medication with you to check-in day, and check those meds in with the camp nurse. Click here for a printable copy of the form. The form requires a doctor's signature, so you may want to get started on those forms right away. A camp packing list is available by clicking here, and you can see a draft schedule for Band camp 2024 by clicking here. Last but certainly not least, please make sure that you and your camper review the camp rules by clicking here. Rule infractions can result in your camper being sent home early, so you want to make sure they have a full understanding of what's expected of them. Please also tell them it's important NOT TO LOSE THEIR ROOM KEY so that you don't end up with an unexpected charge at the end of the week!
