BAND PARENTS' UPDATE

Greetings, band families! Despite how weird a year we are having (we would normally have been cluttering up your in-box for weeks by now), the Band Parents do finally

 have a few updates to share with you. 

1. SENIOR RECOGNITION: we are happy to let you know that the 2020 Marching Band seniors will be recognized at this Friday's Bobcat football game (Sep 11 vs. Harvest Prep).  If you have a senior in your family, please mark your calendars, and visit the band web site frequently throughout the week for the most updated details. 
2. FOOTBALL PEP BANDS: as Mr. Herrmann has already advised, our band students are "staffing" a 24-piece pep band for each of the three Bobcats home football games this year (the remaining two are scheduled for Sep 11 and Oct 2). If your student is selected to perform in any given week, you will receive a detailed message from Mr. Herrmann on Wednesday or Thursday with all of the information that you need about the performance. Please note that this performance is not mandatory, so if you have any concerns about your student appearing for such a performance, please reach out to Mr. Herrmann as soon as possible to discuss. 
3. FUNDRAISING: as with so many other traditional events this year, we have elected to cancel the annual GHHS Bands Decal Drive which was slated this year for August 16. Due to covid safety protocols, the school district has also determined that there will be no concession sales at home athletic events this fall. Taken together those are two of the BPA's three most significant fundraising opportunities for the year. The BPA continues to strategize about our fundraising needs and plans, and we'll continue to keep you updated as we have information to share. In the meantime, of course, we accept donations at our web site any time, so please feel free to share that link with friends, neighbors, and family members who are interested in supporting the bands. 
4. GET INVOLVED! things may be ever so weird and unpredictable, but there is still a dedicated group of parent volunteers meeting regularly to make plans to support our band students. We invite you to join us - the next regular meeting of the GH Band Parents Association will be on Thursday, Oct 1 at 7pm. Location TBD - we have been meeting outside the band room, weather permitting, but we'll see what circumstances permit when the time comes.
