Hello GH Band families! Just a few notes this week from the GHBPA:
MIDDLE SCHOOL BAND POLOS: every middle school band member in grades 6-8 needs a navy blue Grandview Bands polo for performances (including the first concert on November 15). ORDERS ARE DUE 10/26, and more information, including an order form, can be found at the Band web site: http://www.grandviewhtsband.org. You can also order online at www.charmsoffice.com. IF YOU ALREADY HAVE A SHIRT because of older children in the house or a kind neighbor or friend who passed one down to you, PLEASE let us know (email@example.com, firstname.lastname@example.org). We will order enough shirts for every student, so we really need to be told if you do not need one. Thanks!
OLD BAND SHIRTS: If you happen to be in possession of a navy blue middle school polo that you no longer need and that is in reasonably good condition, the Band Parents will be happy to collect it and “recycle” it for future students. Please feel free to send any shirts to school with your student to give to Mr. Herrmann or Mr. Heath.
SEASON IN REVIEW: this (almost) end-of-season concert is a favorite tradition, and an opportunity to see all of the GHHS Marching Band’s performances from 2017. Showtime is 7pm at Bobcat Stadium (rain site is the GHHS Gym). Contrary to rumors, there will be NO concessions available during this event, because we want to let all parents (including those who have volunteered in the concessions stand all season) watch the show. BYO water or snacks if you will need provisions, and come ready to be WOWED, because these kids are something special.
LAST GAME: it’s hard to believe, but the GHHS Marching Band will take the field for the final time for the 2016-17 regular season this Friday, 10/27 at Columbus Academy. Game time is 7pm. We could still use a couple more adult volunteers to help with equipment loading and bus chaperoning. If you can help, please visit that signupgenius one last time, for old time’s sake: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090f4baea62cab9-band4
GHHS FALL PLAY: just a little plug for the many, many student members of the HS band programs who are also participating in this year’s fall play, The Laramie Project, with performances in the GHHS auditorium on November 2, 3, and 4 at 7pm. The students are very excited to be a part of this important production, and look forward to big crowds each night – so come and check it out! (Note that the production may not be suitable for some small children due to strong language and adult themes.) I promise you will be very impressed.
DID YOU KNOW? The Grandview Heights school district has updated its volunteer background check process. The good news is, you can now complete it all online! Yay! The bad news is, if you completed your last background check before June of this year, you may need to complete a new one in order to continue volunteering. Please visit the District web site for more information: http://www.ghcsd.org/apps/pages/index.jsp?uREC_ID=842228&type=d&pREC_ID=1214084
